Judy

I watched Judy and I really liked it! 4/5

“Judy” is a powerful and emotional biopic that brings the legendary performer Judy Garland back to life. Renée Zellweger gives a mesmerizing performance that will leave you both heartbroken and inspired. The film as a whole is a fitting tribute to the life and legacy of Judy Garland. The film does a great job of exploring the highs and lows of Garland’s life and career. Highlighting the relentless pressure Garland faced from the studio system and her own personal demons is what makes this film stand out as a strong biopic.

The film is elevated by its strong supporting cast, including Jessie Buckley as Rosalyn Wilder and Finn Wittrock as Mickey Deans, who turn in standout performances. The cinematography is noteworthy, with elegant camera work that effectively captures the mood of each scene.

One of the film’s biggest strengths is its handling of Garland’s music. Each number is performed with passion and energy, helping to transport the audience back in time to the golden age of Hollywood.

Unfortunately, the film is not without its flaws. The pacing feels a bit slow and the script can be a bit heavy-handed in its handling of some of the more poignant moments. Additionally, the film glosses over some of the more difficult aspects of Garland’s life, such as her struggles with addiction, which could have added depth to the story.

Despite these flaws, “Judy” is a well-crafted and touching tribute to one of the greatest entertainers of all time.
